Half spinner to noseThe finish I have in mind is to pivot step onto the nose and right into a switch nose slide.
After the back push, I replaced my left foot on the board. My weight is now on my left foot and I'm pivoting on it to my left. Next I will take a cross step with my right foot and place it on the nose. My shoulders continue the counter clockwise turning.
When doing a half spinner, or any spinner, I make it easier by turning my right foot in, toe to the left, as I step. I pivot on my left foot and wind up on the nose in switch, facing left. Switch backside twist nose slideIf you made it through the whole Slide Walking list you see that I have done all four nose slides; frontside, backside, switch frontside (which was fakey) and now switch backside.
The pivot half spinner is continued slowly into the wind up twist. This whole sequence keeps turning left and never stops. I turn slowly left until I get into an extreme twist which will pull me into a blind twist switch backside slide.
I stretch my arms out to get some leverage. I move the pivot a little faster here while shifting my weight onto my right foot. I twist into the slide and pull it along. Since this is a nose slide, I don't need much torque to get the board around. I need more control, so I use the backside twist method here. I look more toward the left now, in the direction I want to rotate the slide. This means that the slide is blind. Check in front of you before you turn your head into the blind spot.
As the board comes around, I relax my twist a little by turning my shoulders right, clockwise. There was plenty of speed from the back pushes, so I can ride the slide easily. That's the essence of cruise power.
Now I go into the check to stop the slide rotation. By now you should have seen this counter rotation movement a bunch of times. I continue rotating my shoulders clockwise until I'm twisted in the opposite way from the twist I started the slide with. The check does the job of getting the last few degrees of rotation at the same time it slows the rotation down and keeps it from over rotating. I use my right arm as a lever, pressing it behind me. Again I use the thumb lead as an arm style or fingerwork. The check left me in a perfect 180, with a nice narrow tail stance. There's plenty of room to take two steps to the real tail and get back to a fakey stance. By now you can figure out what might come next. You could cross step, half spinner, hand kick step, back cross step, cross push, or some variation of your own. |
